3 Reasons You Need a Brand Designer

why you need a brand designer

You’re at that point. Your business plan is written, you have the perfect business name, and you’ve got a strong idea of who your ideal client is. You’re ready to launch!

But something is missing. You need a brand DESIGN!

That means a logo (and several versions of it), a color palette, and a set of fonts. You may even need a website built and some brand elements that are specific to you (Instagram highlight covers or custom illustrations).

why you need a brand designer

Now, I’m not going to lie. You can DIY this part of your business. It’s definitely doable to sign up for a Canva account and build your own brand. Absolutely! There are so many wonderful tutorials & ideas out there, and multiple directions you can go to build your own brand identity. You can achieve a perfectly decent brand design on your own.

However, this is the most stressful time in your business. You’re just starting out, and you are wearing all. the. hats. From building inventory to projecting goals to accounting to marketing, there is just too much on your plate! Please, please, take it from someone who has tried to do it all herself, only to end up with burnt-out energy and frustration. If I could go back in time and advise my younger self, I would have looked for many more opportunities to delegate the tasks that were overwhelming to me.

So yes, you can absolutely create your own brand design. You’ll get a decent logo, enough to get started, and you’ll get to do it yourself. But can I be honest? Here’s what you won’t get.

why You Need a Brand Designer

NO. 1 // An outside pair of eyes that has ideas, and expertise that you may not.

Don’t forget, a professional brand designer has valuable experience building a brand identity from consultation, research, and skill. You’ll get one-on-one time with your brand designer to lay out your business needs, and you’ll get to fill out a comprehensive questionnaire that guides your brand designer on the path to creating just the right vision. While you can do all of your own work, you may be working from a generic set of illustrations you purchased, or a font that’s top-rated because it’s been used for thousands of other businesses. A brand designer generally builds a brand from the ground up, looking past trends to get at the heart of what makes your business unique.

NO. 2 // A stress-free experience knowing that your design is being carefully considered and built by an expert.

Designing your own brand can be fun, but if you are also focused on multiple other tasks in your business such as building your email list, creating a workflow system, building up inventory, marketing, etc., it can quickly become a stressful experience that you may rush through and only partially complete. You might just create the bare minimum and run with that, because it’s too much work to really dive in and create everything you need. A brand designer takes care of everything for you, and includes you in the process to provide any feedback you have. You can rest assured that an expert is on the job, building out a beautiful brand identity that will define your business’ vision.

NO. 3 // A professionally-built brand identity that you can rely on to make your business stand out for years to come.

Let’s be real - if you hire a professional, you expect professional results. And that’s what you’ll get when you hire a brand designer. The brand identity that is designed for you will include everything you need to help your business stand up against the competition and reach your ideal client. You’ll be able to trust that this brand identity will carry you through and make you look both professional and confident in your business’ goals.
